During his artistic studies, Pol meets Pierre Sterckx, professor of aesthetics, who opened his eyes on art and philosophy.
This meeting will be determining in his choices to come.

He discovers the trade of coachbuilder and, while working on the most prestigious cars, learns all about the materials, the techniques and esthetics.
In his workshop, between two cars, he draws, a chair, a rack… presents its drawings to a gallery of design in Brussels which encourages him to continue.

In 1987 he creates his rack for compact discs. Pol invents a concept/product that will be sold in the whole world at more than 100.000 specimens. The rack is always in production twenty years later.
His participation to the Salone del mobile di Milano each year among the greatest Italian manufacturers makes him a renown designer in the Nineties.

In 1995 Pol meets an ex-engineer from Donnay (manufacturer of tennis rackets) who teaches him composite materials and mainly carbon fibre.
The C06 is born in April 1995 and is presented first at the Salone del mobile. It will be the lightest chair of the world (950 grams) and will offer much press to Pol such as an article in the “New York times”.

Then Pol interests himself to Italy, to Milanese manufacturers and makes increasingly frequent trips between Milan and Brussels. He decides to go live there.
During these 6 months of exile, Pol meets people from Swatch group whose laboratory is in the town of Leonardo Da Vinci. Carlo Giordanetti, the artistic director of Swatch requires of him to draw watches for brands of the group.
Pol is then propelled to New York where he starts to work for Hamilton and finally for Rado.

Back in Brussels at the end of 2000, Pol is working again in a new workshop in the city centre.
He turns to fashion and draws the ’strada’, a 10 cm high-heeled shoe without heel.
After putting the ’strada’ into production and having it distributed almost everywhere in the world following the salons ‘Micam’ in Milan and ‘Première classe’ in Paris, he made a little break and meets a childhood friend lost of sight for the past 18 years. He creates luminous tables for his dancing downtown.
He also decorated the Biondini shoe store in Paris in the gallery Lafayette.

At the same time, the furniture editor Vange interests himself in the collection of objects Pol. CD rack, Tavolina, Low table, Portabitti are products that Vange puts in production and international diffusion. Since January 2006.

In 2007 he designed for OVO editions a complete collection Corian and puts with the young editor the C09 (his new chair carbon) in production.
The collection is a unanimous success with the public and will be completed during the year by other objects.

BIOGRAPHIE

Pendant ses études artistiques, Pol fait la rencontre Pierre Sterckx, professeur d’esthétique, qui lui ouvre les yeux sur l’art et la philosophie. Cette rencontre sera déterminante dans ses choix à venir.

Il découvre alors le métier de carrossier et, en travaillant sur les plus prestigieuses voitures, il apprend à travailler tous les matériaux, les techniques et les esthétiques.
Dans son atelier, entre deux voitures, il dessine, une chaise, une étagère… présente ses dessins à une galerie de design à Bruxelles qui l’encourage à continuer.

En 1987 il crée son étagère à compacts disques. Pol invente un concept-produit qui se vendra dans le monde entier à plus de 100 000 exemplaires. L’étagère est toujours en production vingt années plus tard.
Sa participation au Salone del mobile di Milano chaque année parmi les plus grands fabricants italiens en font un designer en vogue dans les années 90.

En 1995 Pol rencontre un ex-ingénieur de chez Donnay (fabricant de raquettes de tennis) qui lui apprend les matériaux composites et principalement les fibres de carbone.
La chaise C06 naît en avril 1995 et est présentée en avant-première au Salone del mobile. Elle sera la chaise la plus légère du monde (950 grammes) et offrira beaucoup de presse à Pol dont un article dans le « New York Times ».

Ensuite Pol s’intéresse à l’Italie, aux fabricants milanais et fait des allers-retours de plus en plus fréquents entre Milan et Bruxelles.
Pendant ses 6 mois d’exil à Milan, Pol rencontre des gens de chez Swatch group dont le laboratoire se trouve dans la ville de Leonardo Da Vinci. 
Carlo Giordanetti, le directeur artistique de Swatch lui demande de dessiner des montres pour des marques du groupe.
Pol est alors propulsé à New York où il commence à travailler pour Hamilton et enfin pour Rado.

De retour à Bruxelles fin 2000, Pol se remet au travail et se tourne vers le stylisme. Il crée alors la ’strada’, une chaussure haute de 10 cm sans talon.

Après avoir mis la ’strada’ en production et l’avoir distribuée un peu partout dans le monde suite aux salons ‘Micam’ à Milan et ‘Première classe’ à Paris, il fait un petit break et la rencontre d’un ami d’enfance perdu de vue depuis ses 18 ans.
Il réalise des tables lumineuses pour son dancing du centre ville.
Il crée aussi une toute nouvelle boutique de chaussures pour Biondini à Paris, aux galeries Lafayette.

Dans le même temps, l’éditeur de meubles Vange s’intéresse à la collection d’objets de Pol. Etagères à CD, Tavolina, Low table, Portabitti sont des produits que Vange met en production et diffusion internationale. Dès janvier 2006.

En 2007 il dessine pour OVO editions une collection complète en Corian et met avec ce jeune éditeur la C09 (sa nouvelle chaise en carbone) en production.
La collection connaît un succès unanime auprès du public et se verra durant l’année complétée par d’autres objets.

Durante i suoi studi artistici, Pol fa l’incontro da Pierre Sterckx. Un professore d’estetica che gli apre gli occhi sull’arte e la filosofia. Questo incontro sarà decisivo nelle sue scelte futuro.

Scopre allora il lavoro di carrozziere e, lavorando sulle automobili più prestigiose, apprende a lavorare tutti i materiali, le tecniche e l’estetica.
Nel suo atelier, tra due automobili, disegna, una sedia, uno scaffale… presente i suoi disegni ad una galleria di design a Bruxelles che lo incoraggia a continuare.

Nel 1987 crea il suo scaffale a dischi compatti. Pol inventa un concetto-prodotto che si venderà in tutto il mondo a più di 100.000 copie. Lo scaffale è sempre in produzione venti anni più tardi.
La sua partecipazione al Salone del di mobile Milano ogni anno fra i più grandi fabbricanti italiani ne fa un designer ne naviga negli anni 90.

Nel 1995 Pol incontra l’ex-ingegnere di Donnay (fabbricante di racchetta di tennis) che lo insegnava i materiali compositi e soprattutto le fibre di carbonio.
La sedia C06 nasce nell’aprile 1995 ed è presentata in anteprima al Salone del mobile. Sarà la sedia più leggera del mondo (950 grammi) ed offrirà molta stampa a Pol fra cui un articolo nello “New York Times„.

In seguito Pol interessarsi a l’ Italia, ai fabbricanti Milanesi e fa andata e ritorno sempre più frequenti tra Milano e Bruxelles. Durante i suoi 6 mesi d’esilio a Milano, Pol incontro gente da Swatch group il cui laboratorio si trova nella città di Leonardo Da Vinci.
Carlo Giordanetti, il direttore artistico di Swatch gli chiede di disegnare un orologio per la marca del gruppo.
Pol è allora azionata a New York dove inizia a lavorare per Hamilton e infine per Rado.

Di ritorno a Bruxelles fine 2000, Pol si rimettere al lavoro e si gira verso il stylisme.
Crea allora la ‘ strada’ , una scarpa alta di 10 cm senso tacco.

Dopo avere messo la ‘ strada’ in produzione e l’avere distribuito un po’ovunque nel mondo in seguito ai saloni ‘ Micam’ a Milano e ‘ Première Classe’ a Parigi, fa un piccolo break e l’incontro d’un amico d’infanzia perso di vista dai suoi 18 anni.
Realizza tavole luminose per il suo dancing nel centro della città.
Crea anche un nuovo negozio di scarpe per Biondini a Parigi, alle gallerie Lafayette.

Nello stesso tempo, l’editore di mobili Vange interessarsi alla collezione d’oggetti di Pol. Scaffale a CD, Tavolina, Low Table, Portabitti sonno prodotti che Vange mette in produzione e diffusione internazionale. Fin dal gennaio 2006.

Nel 2007 disegna per OVO editions una collezione completa in Corian e mette con questo giovane editore la C09 (la sua nuova sedia in carbonio) in produzione.
La collezione conosce un successo unanime presso il pubblico e si vedrà durante l’anno completato da altri oggetti.
